Aluminosilicate Flour

Silatherm is based on aluminosilicate which has been purified and then ground down to a flour. Typical particle size is around 5 microns with an aspect ratio of about 1:3. The basic colour is brown but a newer version, Silatherm Plus, can be much lighter in colour.

Silatherm is based on aluminosilicate which has been purified and then ground down to a flour. Typical particle size is around 5 microns with an aspect ratio of about 1:3. The basic colour is brown but a newer version, Silatherm Plus, can be much lighter in colour.

These materials can be added to thermoplastics such as nylons giving a large increase in thermal conductivity to the compound even at relatively low addition levels. Good heat resistance and electrical insulation are achieved in both thermoplastics and thermosets and there are also coated grades available.
