High purity beta-silicon carbide is an extremely tough, chemically inert and heat resistant material.

It is this product versatility which has led to the popularity of their products in a number of different industry sectors. They can be used in coatings, polymer composites and ceramic/metal composites. These are high performance additives for extreme performance applications. They are frequently used in composites that need to resist large mechanical forces. Materials subjected to high temperatures and aggressive chemicals can be improved with the addition of silicon carbide particles. Inclusion of silicon carbide whiskers into a composite/coating results in a comparatively low viscosity increase as the particles align with shear stresses. This allows for high loadings and the subsequent benefits which this offers to the composite.
